Suffer From Chronic Back Pain? Here’s What You Can Do
Back pain can be an incredibly debilitating ailment, making it hard to get through everyday life. But there are ways to reduce your back pain and even prevent it from occurring in the first place. Here are some tips to keep back pain at bay:
1. Maintain a healthy weight: Carrying around extra weight can put strain on the spine and increase pressure on the joints and muscles, leading to more frequent episodes of back pain. A balanced diet and regular exercise can help maintain a healthy weight and reduce the stress on these areas of your body.
2. Improve Posture: Poor posture is one of the most common causes of back pain as it puts unnecessary strain on our neck, shoulders, and spine. Make sure you are sitting up straight with your feet flat on the ground when sitting down for any length of time, including when working in an office job or driving a car. Additionally, when standing make sure that you are not slouching but rather that your head is held high, shoulders relaxed, and core engaged for better support of the spine!
3. Get Enough Sleep: Sleep is essential for restoring energy levels throughout our bodies which can really help if we’re suffering from back pain or trying to prevent it from starting in first place! Try going to bed at same time every night while also ensuring that your mattress offers enough support when lying down so that no extra strain will be placed on any existing soreness/energies in our bodies!
4. Stretch Regularly: Stretching helps improve flexibility by increasing blood flow and oxygen circulation all over – including our spines! Stretching will also help reduce stress which could be contributing to any underlying tension that might be causing stiffness or ache around this area of our bodies. Start each day with 1-2 minutes of gentle stretches focusing specifically on posture-enhancing movements such as chest openers or forward folds!
5. Strengthen Your Core Muscles: Strong core muscles play an important role in stabilizing our spines which reduces pressure off other areas affected by underutilized structures – such as those found close by focal points like shoulder/low backs etc! To strengthen these muscles focus on using stability ball workouts or even specific Pilates techniques like planks & pushups!
With these five tips, you should be well prepared to keep your back free from annoying pain this winter season! As always speak with a medical professional before embarking upon any new physical regime but armed with knowledge about what works best for us personally staying strong this season should become much easier than expected!
